 Due to glorious contribution of Bangladesh Betar (Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra)during liberation war in 1971 the organization has been awarded the highest national honour  "Independence Award -2006"

The programmes produced by the brilliant programme producers of Bangladesh Betar have received international acclamation several times. Few of those awards are mentioned below:

1982: Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prize for Children Programme. (Producer-  Firoz Islam)

1982: ABU Prize for Musical Sketch (Producer- Md. Abdur Rouf)

1984: ABU Engineering Prize 1983-84 for Calculation of HF Field Strength Using a Pocket Calculator (M.A.Rashid and Dr. C. S. Rao)

1985: Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcast Development (AIBD) Prize for Drama (Producer- Kazi Mahmudur Rahman)

1985: ABU Prize for Musical Sketch (Producer- Nabidur Rahman)

1986: ABU Engineering Prize 1985-86 for Aerial System for Higher Power Shortwave Transmitter (M.A. Rashid and M.A.H. Bhuiyan)

1987: Japan Prize for Documentary on Environment (Producer- Rafiqul Hasan)

1987: ABU Prize for Musical Sketch (Producer- Dilruba Khan)

1987: ABU Prize for Travel Documentary (Producer- Shameema Khan)

1989: ABU Prize for News Feature (Producer- Mobarak Hossain Khan)

1995: ABU Prize for Docu-Drama (Producer- Jhahedul Haque)

2000: ABU Prize for Documentary (Producer- S M Abul Hossain)

2000: Highly Commended for the Elizabeth R. Award  (Shaikh Muhammad     Refat Ali)

2001: Rolls-Royce Award for Innovation in Broadcasting Management from CBA (Faroha Suhrawardy)

2002: ABU Prize for Documentary (Producer- Mohammad Shamsul Haque)

2005: Highly Commendation for IBC Award 2005 for Cost Effective Engineering from CBA (Ahmed Quamruzzaman)

2005: ABU Prize-Special Commendation for Documentary (Producer- Md. Monowar Hossain Khan)

2005: UNFPA Award for Documentary Programme on HIV/AIDS.

2006: Shadhinata Puroskar for Outstanding Contribution in the War of   Liberation.

2006: Elizabeth R. Award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Service Broadcasting (Md. Abdur Rouf)

2006: CBA Award for Science Reporting- Special Commendation (Producer- Shaikh Muhammad Refat Ali )

2007: ABU Special Jury Prize 2007 for Infotainment programme titled ‘Sankhagatha’(Producer- Akhter Jahan Dolon)

2007: ABU Special Commendation 2007 for environment based documentary ‘Save Our Earth’ (Producer- Shahnaz Begum)
